Bhojala Market to Remain Closed for One Week Starting October 27
Jhansi: The Vikashit Anaj Mandi in Jhansi will be closed for a full week starting October 27 in observance of the Diwali festival. Traders have decided to suspend operations until November 3, impacting the purchase and sale of grains during this festive period.
Local traders announced that no grain trading will take place in the market during this time. Diwali marks an important religious festival in the region, and many farmers and traders will take time off to celebrate with their families.
In the past, the grain market has remained active during such festivals, but this year, due to the high demand for Diwali celebrations, it has been decided to give traders a break. Pratap Pandey, a prominent leader in the local trading community, confirmed that the decision was made unanimously by traders.
While the grain market will be closed, farmers are advised to plan their crop sales accordingly. Some farmers have already faced difficulties in selling their crops due to fluctuating prices, with the price of mustard seeds ranging from ₹3,500 to ₹4,600 per quintal.
Up until October 23, 1.28 lakh quintals of crops have already been procured. However, some farmers who delayed bringing their produce to the market may now face challenges due to the one-week closure. Farmers are urged to resume transactions immediately after the market reopens to avoid delays in crop sales.
