Diwali Bonus Announced for 1.482 Million Government Employees in Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a festive Diwali bonus for 1.482 million state employees, including teachers and educational staff, as a token of appreciation ahead of the festival. Each employee will receive ₹6,908 as a bonus, a move set to benefit a large section of the workforce.
According to the official directive issued by Deepak Kumar, the Additional Chief Secretary of Finance, the bonus will be distributed to all eligible state employees, providing a financial boost as Diwali approaches.
Bonus Details and Distribution The total bonus amount for each employee is set at ₹6,908. Of this, 75% (₹5,181) will be deposited into the employee’s General Provident Fund (GPF) account, while the remaining 25% (₹1,727) will be given as cash to the employees. For those employees who are not members of the GPF, the 75% portion will be deposited into the National Savings Certificate (NSC) or Public Provident Fund (PPF).

Eligibility Criteria The bonus will apply to full-time employees who have worked for the state government for at least one year by March 31, 2024. Additionally, daily wage workers who have completed 240 days of service annually are also eligible for the bonus. Exceptions Certain employees, such as those who have been penalized or faced departmental action during the fiscal year 2023-24, will not be eligible for the bonus.
